Winners Gallery and the Austrian Cultural Forum Beijing/Austrian Embassy are joining hands to present a fascinating solo art exhibition featuring Austrian-Icelandic artist Elínborg Jóhannesdóttir Ostermann on January 28th, 2024.
This is an artistic feast where Elínborg Jóhannesdóttir Ostermann showcases the magical and wonderful landscapes of Austria and Iceland through her unique artistic approach, seamlessly blending the characteristics of watercolor painting in acrylic painting and mixed media creations.
Elínborg Jóhannesdóttir Ostermann moved to Austria at the age of 20 and has been living in Vienna ever since reaching adulthood. After obtaining a biochemisty doctorate, Elínborg Jóhannesdóttir Ostermann entered the pharmaceutical industry, conducting research on novel genes related to diseases and exploring antibody drugs for cancer treatment. Meanwhile, the pursuit of art has always accompanied her scientific career. Austria has had a profound influence on her artistic creation. Vienna, being a city full of artistic atmosphere, is home to numerous museums and galleries. Elínborg Jóhannesdóttir Ostermann had the opportunity to visit many exhibitions and museums, further deepening her understanding of art. During her time in Austria, she attended classes and exchanged ideas with renowned artists from around the world, including watercolorist Bernhard Vogel (AT), Josef Zbukvics (AUS), Chien Chung-Wei (TW), Gerhard Almbauer (AT), as well as figurative and acrylic painters Andrea Rozorea (DE), Bogdan Pascu (AT), Poitr Sonnewend (DE), among others.
"Dance" and "The dancer (1)" draw inspiration from the Austrian Ball season and the tradition of a love for dancing. Elínborg Jóhannesdóttir Ostermann has always had a strong desire to learn to dance, and not having the opportunity to do so when she was young has been a great regret for her. Even now, she still enjoys watching skilled dancers gracefully perform on the dance floor.
